AMIE is tool that allows individual clinicians to develop a
quick and simple interface to manage their clinical information
needs. The clinician increasingly needs quick access to a range of
information in different settings. There are problems with
existing information management systems:
- Web-based resources are often not customisable to the individuals
needs and therefore no single website meets all the clinical needs
of a clinician
- internet access may not available or slow so that information becomes
unobtainable
- Hand held devices may be difficult to print from, enter
information into and the display cannot be used for communication
with patient family.
- Useful files stored on a disk may be cumbersome and time consuming
to access
- Paper-based resources are difficult to maintain and update
- Hospital based IT solutions are often not customisable to the
individuals clinical needs
It is possible using a simple html format collection of files to
create a system that allows easier access to an individual's collection
of files, weblinks, email addresses etc. AMIE is essentially a
collection a web pages that are run offline that an individual can
customise using Microsoft Word. AMIE is a free
non-commercial tool. |
